Health Conditions/Medical Issues and Senior Cats
The grooming experience can sometimes be stressful for your cat/s. When a cat becomes stressed, hidden or pre-existing medical conditions can be discovered or aggravated.
Senior cats and cats with pre-existing medical conditions can be at a greater risk of injury and stress. Because of this, these cats will be groomed for cleanliness and comfort before anything else and only if a current written vet clearance is provided . Any additional services for owner comfort will only be provided if the cat is tolerant at the time of the groom.
Cats over 10 years old will have needed to be seen by a vet within the12 months prior to your appointment.
Cats over 15 years old will require a recent written vet clearence prior to grooming.
You agree to notify Purrfect Paws Cat Grooming of any known health conditions prior to each grooming appointment and you acknowledge that Purrfect Paws Cat Grooming reserves the right to cancel the groom if there may be a risk of potentially infectious conditions.
Accidents
Due to the nature of working with wriggly, live animals and sharp/loud tools, unfortunately grooming accidents can happen. Although Purrfect Paws Cat Grooming always uses extreme care and caution when handling your cat/s, possible accidents can occur.
Matted or Pelted Hair Removal
The process of mat and pelt removal can be a time consuming and painful experience for your cat. Tight or large mats will need to be shaved off which comes with the risk of nicks or cuts due to moles or skin being trapped under the mats. Extreme matting and pelting can also trap moisture near the skin which can cause skin irritation that existed prior to grooming.
When mats or pelts are removed, the skin can become itchy, red and irritated and can cause the cat to 'over groom' the area now that they are able to reach it. Severe cases of matting or pelting can also cause issues with hair regrowth. Prevention is always the best defence against matting and pelting.
*Additional fees may apply for mat and pelt removals
Aggressive/Dangerous Cats
The owner is responsible for informing Purrfect Paws Cat Grooming of any incidents of their cat biting, scratching or showing aggression towards people prior to the beginning of the groom.
Purrfect Paws Cat Grooming reserves the right to use safety tools and equipment in order to finish the groom safely.
Purrfect Paws Cat Grooming reserves the right to refuse/cancel the groom at any time if your cat becomes aggressive or dangerous.
*Additional fees may apply for the handling of aggressive or dangerous cats
Parasites
If fleas are found at any stage of the grooming process, your cat will be treated with a Capstar tablet and an additional $15 charge will apply.
If you have not authorised the use of a flea product, the groom will be stopped and my cancellation fee will be required.
Purrfect Paws Cat Grooming reserves the right to refuse/cancel the groom if any presence of fleas is found on your cat.
*Additional cleaning fees may apply for significant flee infestations.
Injury
Should an injury occur or is uncovered during the grooming process that requires medical attention, the owner must take the cat to the vet - at their own expense.
Permission must be granted for the vet to discuss this matter with Purrfect Paws Cat Grooming in order for further action to be taken by Purrfect Paws Cat Grooming.
Terms and Conditions
- The cat is fit and healthy and is deemed by you to be healthy and sound enough for grooming. Grooming may expose pre-existing health and/or skin conditions for which Purrfect Paws Cat Grooming cannot be held liable.
- Any Grooming which takes place on an elderly cat, or one with pre-existing health conditions, will solely be at the owner's risk
- You understand that grooming can be stressful for cats and that, due to the nature of grooming, accidents can happen. You understand that when using sharp tools and loud equipment, there is a risk to your cat, but all will be done to prevent this.
- In the event of an injury or health concern, we are authorized to contact a vet and authorise any veterinary treatment for the cat as necessary. The owner is responsible for all veterinary charges that may incur as a result. If we deem the cat has a health concern, we will stop the groom and contact you. It is left to our discretion if we can continue the groom, even if the groom has not been completed.
- In the event that your cat becomes aggressive during the groom and cannot be groomed safely, we reserve the right to stop the groom for the safety of the groomer and the cat. You will be responsible for paying for the services provided or a call out fee of $50.
- Dematting/detangling of matted hair may cause patchiness and hair loss. Consent to remove the matted hair is on this understanding. Shaving your cat will dramatically alter its appearance, and the hair will be very close to the skin. This may expose pre-existing health/skin conditions for which Purrfect Paws Cat Grooming is not responsible. *Severe matting and/or pelting will result in additional fees, based on the severity of the problem and the time required to correct it. A faecal removal surcharge may also apply. The owner agrees to pay for all charges at the end of the groom
- You acknowledge that if your cat is senior or at high-risk, then the grooming appointment may be split into multiple appointments for the health and safety of your cat.
Payment is either via direct bank transfer or Cash only and is required at the end of the groom
We do not offer payment plans or credit
